Back by popular demand .........

Hello family book lovers ......

I'm back by popular demand to introduce the latest book choice for fall 2012.  May I have a drum roll please ........ our latest book choice is Big In Japan by Jennifer Griffith.

This book was released in July and received excellent reviews.  The following is a brief synopsis posted on the Goodreads website (If you are not a member of Goodreads, you should sign up and ask me to be your friend.  It is an excellent website for bibliophiles. Check it out!):

Buck Cooper doesn't remember when he became invisible. It was probably around the time he hit 300 pounds, and that was quite a few pounds ago. At six-foot-six, he's the elephant in the room nobody notices. Still, his social leprosy doesn't keep him from putting in for a promotion in the stats department, or from carrying a torch for the gorgeous Alison, who just might see through the blubber to the real Buck inside.

So when Buck gets Shanghaied to Tokyo for a family emergency, the last thing he expects is to be marveled at everywhere he goes. Little kids run up to him and want to pull the hair on his arms. He's suddenly the Jolly Blond Giant.

As his life takes a new turn in a country where being big can mean fame and fortune, Buck must embark on the most dangerous yet adventurous ride of his life--to find the ultimate meaning of love and acceptance. Even if it means risking his life and giving up everything he has.

I heard about this book recently by way of a member of my book club who sent me an article about book clubs on KSL.com's website.  This book was mentioned as an excellent book club choice.  The article said this about the book:

For an incredibly fun book club experience, pick up this brand new book. The premise will blow you away and your group will love talking about Buck and his experiences in Japan.

I thought an incredibly fun book would be the perfect choice for our latest adventure in good reading.  So, run to your nearest bookstore to find it, or get that credit card out and head to Amazon.com, or get over to your local library to pick up or reserve a copy.  And it goes without saying that I can't wait to read your thoughts when you are done.

On a final note, I apologize for the length of time between the last book choice and this one.  I had mistakenly thought the family book club was a nice idea in theory but not practice.  I am happy to report that it's absence was missed by a large majority of the family, hence it's rising like a phoenix from the ashes.  I am excited about it's resurrection and have a list of books I've already chosen to read in the coming year.  As always, feel free to send me any suggestions or comments you have.  All are welcome!

Happy reading!
